New things in the depths of winter

This winter has certainly shown it's cold face to us in this region. Though we have missed the massive snow storms that have hit the north, we have had our share of winter here too.

At the store, we are on our winter schedule with slightly reduced hours (we now close at 6pm Monday thru Friday) and are not hosting any events other than our regular monthly fare. Each week, weather permitting, on Saturday night we have the acoustic jam which continues to go strong. Once per month we host our singer/songwriter night. This is always a fun event and allows us to showcase some of the amazing talent within the region. And then there is the ARBC. The ARBC is the Appalachian Readers Book Club. This is a club that meets once per month and discusses a book that we have chosen to read that is either based in the Appalachian region or is by an Appalachian author. We have read a lot of great books so far. This month our selection is Velva Jean Learns to Drive and so far, it is a great read. If you are interested in joining the ARBC, please do. There is always room for other opinions and insights and it's not too late to get this months book. Join us for coffee, sweets and great discussions!

Of course there are other fun things to do in cold weather. Like stay inside and pick! We are getting new shipments in this week. With a wide array to choose from plus CDs and DVDs there is plenty to help you get through these cold winter days.

But before you think about packing up and heading down south, don't despair. Remember on Ground Hog Phil and his friends seemed pretty happy outside so as far as I can tell, most that means spring should arrive on time. Until then, stay warm and when cabin fever finds you, come pick a lick at Capo's!
